To all those who are reading this message.
First of all, we would like to thank you for your attention, and hope that you and your family, and beloved ones are safe and peace, wherever you are.

The threat of the COVID-19 is wreaking havoc throughout the world, and our beloved Ecuador has been no exception.
We are some Japanese who love Ecuador and have launched ” One Drop of Little Hummingbird Project ” to support Ecuador.

【Current Situation in Ecuador 】
Although it is difficult to obtain information from Japan, it was announced that the first person infected with this virus had appeared in Guayaquil, Ecuador’s largest commercial city, on February 29.
Since then, the number of people infected and the number of deaths have increased considerably, 22,719 and 576 respectively. Besides, it is believed that there are approximately 1,060 deaths affected by this pandemic (Source: Embassy of Japan in Ecuador, publication 24 April)
Although Ecuador’s population is only one-seventh that of Japan, the number of deaths is almost five times higher.
Similarly, it has been reported that the bodies of the deceased have been left on the sidewalks because the funeral service is overwhelmed, news like that causes us a lot of pain.
From the news we hear from our Ecuadorian friends and the serious situation in which the medical system finds itself, we feel strongly that the reality must be ten times more severe and tense than the numbers reported by the Ecuadorian Government and the mass media.

【One Drop of Little Hummingbird Project】
Given the current state of our beloved Ecuador, we cannot stand by and do nothing.
That is why together with several friends who love Ecuador and decided to launch the Ecuador Emergency Support Project ” One Drop of Little Hummingbird Project “.
A traditional story of the indigenous people of Ecuador is “The little hummingbird”. A small hummingbird carries water drop by drop to extinguish massive forest fire, but the animals that escaped from the forest are laughing at him: “What do you want to do with that?” to which the hummingbird responded “I am only doing what I can”,
We love the story of this hummingbird.
What we can do may only be a drop in the ocean.
Yet every drop can become a stream to extinguish that difficult fire.
Just like that little but bold hummingbird.
We wonder what is the most necessary support we can do now.
And we believe it is necessary to support with food supplies the following organizations in Guayaquil for the people who are currently most exposed to the COVID 19 and who are desperate because they cannot work outside.
The financial support that is collected with contributions from Japan and Ecuador and you will be given to an organization with experience in supporting this type.

【Towards the Bright Future】
Japan and Ecuador celebrated the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2018 and the bond that has been cultivated between the two countries was strengthened even more.
This experience is our treasure and the foundation of our future, which will continue to deepen our friendship.
It shows that we have a bright future. And we appreciate your warm support as an investment in that future.Support to mitigate the state of emergency for the Covid-19 epidemic.
